Tanner (Owner of TMT Excavation) and his crew did an excellent job "refreshing" and expanding my long gravel driveway. The driveway had not been updated in 20 yrs...the entire job from estimate to completion was very professional (yet friendly!) and I even received guidance on NYS tax exemptions for capital projects. The job was completed in less than a day and I love it!

Our Story Built from the ground up,
Built from the ground up,
family at the core
Our owner, Tanner, holds an associate's degree in business administration and brings hands-on experience from working with leading companies in the excavation and site work industry.
What began as a small lawn mowing business has evolved into a company focused on excavation, site work, and septic services—supporting residential and small commercial projects with the equipment, knowledge, and precision required to do the job right.
At TMT Excavation & Outdoor Services, our mission is simple: to deliver dependable, high-quality groundwork that sets every project up for long-term success.
Tanner started mowing lawns at a young age — no crew, no equipment trailer, no business plan — just someone who showed up and did the work. That early start built the habits that still define TMT today: show up on time, do the job right, and treat every property like it matters. TMT became a DBA in 2012 and an LLC in 2018. By 2023, Tanner shifted the company's focus toward excavation, site work, and solving the kind of complex property challenges that most contractors walk away from.
Today, TMT specializes in septic installation, site preparation, land clearing, retaining walls, seawalls, underground utility installation, and outdoor living spaces. We also continue to offer bulk material sales and delivery — mulch, topsoil, and stone — along with commercial and residential lawn maintenance and snow removal.
TMT is a family operation in the truest sense. Tanner leads the work in the field. His mom manages the office. His dad runs the shop. His wife supports the business behind the scenes. That family foundation carries through to our entire team — a group that takes real pride in the work and genuinely cares about every project we take on.
We serve homeowners, property managers, and commercial clients across Cortland County, Tompkins County, and the surrounding communities. Call us today at (607) 838-0034 or email admin@tmtexcavationoutdoorservices.com to request your free estimate. Our office is open Monday through Friday, 8am to 2pm, with weekend bulk material loading available by appointment.

Why Choose TMT Excavation & Outdoor Services?
Rooted in the Region
Tanner has worked properties across Cortland County, Tompkins County, and the surrounding towns for years. That firsthand knowledge shapes how we approach every site.
Solutions Over Excuses
When a project hits a snag, we work through it instead of passing the problem back to you. Our focus stays on finding the right fix and moving forward.
Family-Run Accountability
With Tanner in the field and family handling operations and the shop, every decision runs through people who have a real stake in the outcome.
Clean, Complete Jobsites
We treat every property as if it were our own, which means we leave the site in order when the work is done, not just when it's convenient.
One Crew, Many Trades
From septic installation and land clearing to retaining walls and outdoor living spaces, we handle the full scope so you are not coordinating multiple contractors.
Clear Communication
Tanner meets with customers directly to understand the vision before work begins. You know what to expect at each stage, and we follow through on what we say.
